Peru Entry/Travel Updates
Last update: Aug 2nd, 2023
Peru is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, home to not only Machu Picchu, but Huacachina Desert Oasis, Lake Titicaca, Rainbow Mountain, and more. Unfortunately, like in almost any country, protests can happen for a number of reasons (like we have seen in France, the USA, and the UK recently). These protests NEVER look to cause issues for tourists but of course, strikes at airports, for example, can cause problems, which is unfortunately what happened here in December 2022.
However we are happy to say Peru is fully back to normal with 2023 expected to be a great year for tourism as the country grows in popularity due to having so many incredible attractions in 1 place.
We at Peru Hop are ALWAYS here to answer any questions you may have, with our on-the-ground local expert team here in Lima only too happy to help. See HERE about how to contact us.

Many cities and communities thrive on tourism and are always demanding the best from the government for all the tourists that arrive. Because of this, there’s a growth in the number of international travelers year by year that reaffirms that the country is on the map of world tourism.
Nonetheless, as usual when traveling, we recommend you use your common sense and don’t do things that you would not do in your own country.
There are NO travel restrictions or requirements in Peru.

Yes, trains to and from Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes), the gateway to Machu Picchu, are operating as normal.
Peru is a very diverse country, from tourist hot spots to jungle villages that are almost inaccessible, and from the extremely wealthy to the extremely poor. As a result, there are some towns that can be affected by hygiene issues and diseases. 99% of the places where tourists go will have no issues with any diseases such as Dengue or anything else.
Rest assured, Peru Hop is a local Peruvian company, and we give a lot back to the community here in Peru through donations and community work from our amazing local staff.
Peru Hop and it’s unique hop-on, hop-off bus system is operating as normal. Demand has come back strong for the rest of year due to the growing popularity of many attractions in each destination which is why we recommend to book in advance.
