Paracas to Lima by Bus: How to Get There

Paracas to Lima by Bus: 2020 updated information about schedules, safety, and how to book!

The beachside resort town of Paracas is not only a great place to enjoy some sun, it’s also the gateway to the Paracas National Reserve and the Ballestas Islands, two of the Peruvian coast’s most important natural protected areas. Located about four hours south of Lima, Paracas is a great getaway from Lima and also makes a great stop-off point for travelers making their way from Cusco to Lima (or vice versa).

Paracas to Lima

The nearest major city to Paracas is Pisco, an important shipping port and regional hub. While Pisco does have a small airport, it’s primarily used by military planes rather than commercial aircraft. The vast majority of travelers visiting the area arrive via ground transportation. Many bus companies make stops in Pisco, however only a small handful of companies take passengers directly to Paracas. If you take one of the companies that only goes to Pisco, you’ll need to find a taxi to take you the rest of the way.

To get directly to Paracas without the need for a taxi from Pisco, your best option is to take Peru Hop, a flexible hop on hop off service which travels from Lima through destinations all through southern Peru and up to the border with Bolivia where it connects with sister company Bolivia Hop. What makes Peru Hop unique is the ability to adjust your itinerary as you go, allowing you to spend more time in the places you enjoy and skip any places that you don’t find interesting. It’s the perfect way to travel, and really gives you the ability to put together your own perfect trip!

Peru Hop places a lot of emphasis on the comfort of its passengers. All buses are equipped with “semi-cama” reclining seats, each with their own USB charging ports. Every bus has an English-speaking guide onboard to give information about each destination and help with booking hostels, hotels, and extra tours. All Peru Hop buses also provide direct hostel and hotel pick-up and drop-off, meaning you won’t have to worry about finding the correct bus terminal in a strange city, many of which are located in somewhat dangerous areas of town.

Peru Hop also has an outstanding safety record, an important aspect to consider when picking a bus company in Peru. All Peru Hop buses travel at safe speeds with experienced and professional drivers. Our buses travel only on major highways for the entire trip, avoiding isolated back roads where hijackings sometimes take place. All Peru Hop buses are monitored with a GPS tracking system 24 hours a day in order to prevent any unplanned stops or detours. If safety is your top priority, Peru Hop is definitely the best bus service to get from Paracas to Lima.
